h. APPROVAL OF AN OVERNIGHT EXTENDED FIELD TRIP BY LOS ALAMITOS HIGH SCHOOL ADVANCED SHOW CHOIRS TO CHICAGO, IL, APRIL 25 - 28, 2013      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

The Los Alamitos High School Show Choirs will compete against the best show choirs in America.  They will be able to visit historical/famous sights and will greatly benefit from this experience. 

         
i. APPROVAL OF AN AMENDMENT TO AN AGREEMENT WITH TURNITIN.COM FOR SOFTWARE LICENSES FOR MCAULIFFE, OAK, AND LOS ALAMITOS HIGH SCHOOL TO PILOT A WRITING PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

McAuliffe, Oak, and Los Alamitos High School teachers will pilot TurnItIn writing software. Teachers will submit student writing to TurnItIn.com. TurnItIn.com will provide feedback to teachers and students.

         
j. RATIFICATION OF AN OVERNIGHT EXTENDED FIELD TRIP BY LOS ALAMITOS HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS TO CLAREMONT, CA, APRIL 12- 14, 2013      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

The Model United Nations Club had an opportunity to compete against representatives from schools throughout the world.

         
k. APPROVAL OF A SOFTWARE LICENSE AND SUPPORT AGREEMENT WITH ILLUMINATE EDUCATION, INC.      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

Illuminate Education, Inc. will provide the software license and staff training for a web-based software system for student data and assessment management.

         
l. APPROVAL OF EVENT LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH HOME DEPOT CENTER FOR LOS ALAMITOS HIGH SCHOOL 2013 GRADUATION CEREMONY      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This agreement will allow Los Alamitos High School to hold their 2013 Graduation Ceremony at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California.

         
m. RATIFICATION OF FILING OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR WEST COAST AIR CONDITIONING CO., INC. FOR THE LOS ALAMITOS HIGH SCHOOL MODERNIZATION      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This Notice of Completion document has been filed and recorded with the County of Orange.

         
n. APPROVAL OF SERVICE AGREEMENT WITH INTAND CORPORATION FOR SUBSCRIPTION TO THE TANDEM CALENDAR AT LOS ALAMITOS HIGH SCHOOL      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This agreement with Intand Corporation will provide for an internal calendaring system at Los Alamitos High School.

         
o. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT WITH SEACOAST GRACE CHURCH FOR LOS ALAMITOS HIGH SCHOOL BACCALAUREATE CEREMONY      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This contract will allow Los Alamitos High School to use the SeaCoast Grace Church facilities to hold the 2013 Baccalaureate Ceremony.

         
p. APPROVAL OF CISCO TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE HARDWARE AND EQUILLOGIC SAN (STORAGE AREA NETWORK) FOR DISTRICT DATA CENTER UTILIZING CALIFORNIA MULTIPLE AWARD SCHEDULE (CMAS) CONTRACT NO. 3-11-70-1788F AND GENERAL SERVICES ADMINISTRATION (GSA) CONTRACT NO. GS-35F-0563U AWARDED BY THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This will provide the technology equipment for Districtwide use that will be installed by the General Contractor during modernization.

         
q. s. AMENDMENT OF THE CONTRACT WITH RIVER CITY TESTING TO PROVIDE IN-FACTORY INSPECTION DURING FABRICATION OF ONE PORTABLE/RELOCATABLE BUILDING AS REQUIRED BY THE DIVISION OF THE STATE ARCHITECT FOR LAUREL HIGH SCHOOL      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This contract amendment will provide for an additional ultrasonic/magnetic particle test of the steel as requested by the Division of State Architect (DSA).

         
t. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT WITH TGR GEOTECHNICAL, INC. TO PROVIDE MATERIALS TESTING AND SPECIAL INSPECTIONS FOR THE WEAVER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL MODERNIZATION      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

TGR Geotechnical, Inc. will provide geotechnical observation, materials testing, and special inspections at the Weaver Elementary School Modernization, as required by the Division of State Architect (DSA).

         
u. APPROVAL OF AGREEMENT WITH CKE RESTAURANTS HOLDINGS, INC. DBA CARL'S JR. RESTAURANTS LLC TO PROVIDE A BURGER TRUCK FOR LOS ALAMITOS HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS DURING THEIR 2013 SENIOR MEETING      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This agreement will allow for a Carl's Jr. burger truck to come to Los Alamitos High School and provide food for Seniors during their 2013 Senior Meeting.

         
v. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT WITH JOSTENS FOR THE PRINTING OF THE OAK MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARBOOK      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This agreement will provide for the printing of Oak Middle School Yearbooks.

         
w. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT WITH JOSTENS FOR THE PRINTING OF MCAULIFFE MIDDLE SCHOOL YEARBOOK      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This agreement will provide for the printing of McAuliffe Middle School Yearbooks.

         
x. APPROVAL OF AN INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR AGREEMENT WITH MARVIN J. PAULL FOR ACTUARIAL SERVICES RENDERED IN CONNECTION WITH THE DISTRICT HEALTH PLANS      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This agreement provides an actuarial study which analyzes the cost structure of the District health plans as well as a financial estimate in regard to the plans’ potential costs.

         
y. APPROVAL OF CONTRACT WITH SOUTHWEST MOBILE STORAGE, INC. TO PROVIDE AN 8'-0" X 10'-0" CONTAINER AT OAK MIDDLE SCHOOL TO HOUSE THE MAIN DISTRIBUTION FACILITY (MDF) FOR TECHNOLOGY DURING MODERNIZATION      (D)  (V)  (C)  
 

This contract provides for the Main Distribution Facility (MDF) for Technology to be supported in a container at Oak Middle School during the entire site modernization.  This must be done in order to maintain access to the Internet by keeping the MDF operational during the modernization project.

This contract amendment is for the architectural and construction management work to be performed under lease/leaseback modernization construction at Weaver Elementary School. The contract is now being amended based on the Guaranteed Maximum Price for construction being finalized.

  The job description for Director, Special Education, has been revised to reflect current practices in the area of special education as well as to include working conditions and physical demands for the position in compliance with the American Disabilities Act (ADA).

The Board of Education has been asked to approved a Stipulated Agreement for the suspended expulsion of one student from Los Alamitos Unified School District.

         
o. APPROVAL OF AN AGREEMENT IN LIEU OF EXPULSION FOR ONE LOS ALAMITOS UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT STUDENT      (D)  (V)  
  The Board of Education has been asked to approve an Agreement in Lieu of expulsion for one student in the Los Alamitos Unified School District under provisions of Education Code Section 48900-48925.
